Turning Data into Decisions: Revealing the value of nutrition interventions in healthcare using Health Economics and Outcome Research (HEOR)

Health Economics Outcome Research (HEOR) offers a powerframework to demonstrate the value of nutrition interventions in healthcare. By integrating cost effectiveness and resource analysis with clinical and patient outcomes, HEOR tools measure the burden of malnutrition and the impact of targetted interventions on key system metrics such as reduced length of stay, improved patient flow and better access. The session will introduce HEOR methodology, review evidence that nutrition interventions are clinically effective and often cost saving and translate these findings into practical strategies for the Canadian context. This will position leaders and policy makers to position nutrition as a lever for improved outcomes and system performance.
